NigelSimon is a singer-songwriter from St. Helens, England. He immigrated to the United States with his family. NigelSimon’s brother had a medical condition that required a dry climate, so the family moved west. His father was an explorer and engineer, and often took his two boys to the desert, where the stars left lasting images and galactic overtures. His dream of becoming an astronaut faded for a time amid the reality of Apollo’s conclusion.

NigelSimon was raised in a musical family. His parents were singers, and his brother played the piano. One day, NigelSimon’s father brought home a rented violin, music, and a stand. Sadly, the screeching was unendurable for all, including far afield neighbors and their pets. A few weeks later came a Cornet, and of course a mute to place within its bell. Alas, and with great relief to all, far and wide, the violin was returned to a much safer place.

A brass instrument was perfect for the rambunctious, budding musician. He often played, motivated by a cousin who had won awards as the best trumpet player in the UK. He played classical music and marches throughout middle school and high school. He loved the music and enjoyed the experience.

At 14 years, NigelSimon’s father brought home a new Yamaha acoustic and a year later, a pristine 59’ Gibson 330 electric guitar. The Beatles became popular in NigelSimon’s head, and with a friend, they purchased all available albums, numbering 24, if one included the Blue and the Red. John Denver and the Beach Boys were prime listening, though somewhat distant in ranking. The two friends twanged the strings, but after rotating through an assortment of teachers, they seemed little better off than before. Branching a bit, NigelSimon wore out a record of Jefferson Airplane’s Bless Its Pointed Little Head, Live at the Fillmore East. Practicing the guitar riffs over and over, his fingers started to work on their own without thinking. Ear-to-finger playing with no thoughts attached became the rule.

With high school done, NigelSimon found a job, well, perhaps several of them, and purchased gear. The new music included Blue Öyster Cult, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, Iron Maidan, and the like. He found a group of like-minded musicians, who had disco PTSD, and with them, formed a basement band called Steel - Rock of Ages. Entering university, NigelSimon was invited to join a well-established top 40 band called Destiny. Serious and talented musicians with no delusions of grandeur, the band, with NigelSimon attached, played 2-4 nights each week for years at various clubs. Occasional weddings and pageants were included, but a month-long USO tour in Alaska was certainly a highlight. Higher education calling: NigelSimon left Destiny and his bandmates for a stint in much slower-moving activities.

NigelSimon now combines his passion for astronomy, the lessons of classical music, the head-banging momentum of rock, and an ear for rhythm and blues. Into other ears, Corathetite’s Explorer screenplays a story of a child who discovered an earthly rock containing special properties. Once refined and spatially oriented, the mineral called Corathetite harnesses a local star's power to allow distant transport. The story unfolds…..
